Comtronics, a communications equipment and security alarm company now in its 50th year, is opening a new store to better serve customers on the west side of Jackson.
The store at 102 S. Brown St., the former Gourmet Bagel building, will be Comtronics' sixth store in Jackson and 14th in Michigan.
John Campau, president and CEO of Comtronics, said the company is investing more than a half-million dollars in the property. The building is being completely remodeled and will have a new high-tech look inside and out that will serve as the prototype for all Comtronics stores, he said.
Campau said he plans to open the new store in October and make the opening part of the company's 50th anniversary celebration. He plans to hire six new employees at the store.
