JACKSON, MI - Walker Capital Corp. announced today the
acquisition of Comtronics, of Jackson, Michigan. Comtronics is a
telecommunications and electronic security firm with over 3,000 residential and
commercial customers in Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois. Comtronics established its
Communications Division in 1958, and its Security Division in 1970. They have
their own UL listed, 24-hour Alarm Monitoring Facility in downtown Jackson. In
1974, Comtronics formed Superior Answering Service to provide 24 hour telephone
answering service to its customers. The acquisition will be transparent to
Comtronics customers, and allow continued growth of the company, which completed
record sales, increasing by 25 percent, in 1998.
Comtronics will be structured as a wholly owned subsidiary of
Walker Capital Corp. Comtronics will continue to be operated as it has in the
past, with Philip F. Campau, Sr. continuing as Chairman of the Board, and John
A. Campau remaining as President. John A. Campau will be responsible for
day-to-day operations of the company and will become a significant stockholder
of Walker Capital Corp. Continued employment and benefits are being offered to
the 40 employees of Comtronics. “We are very excited about our future with
Walker Capital. With the inherent competitive nature of our industry they have
the knowledge, resources, and expertise to provide world class service to our
customers, and facilitate rapid expansion into other markets,” said John A.
Campau.
Walker Capital Corp. was formed by James F. Walker for purposes
of the Comtronics acquisition. This acquisition, when combined with other Walker
holdings, will posture the company as a major force in the telecommunications
and electronic security industry. It immediately provides a greatly expanded
market area for Comtronics, with 25 sales professionals in a three hundred mile
service area. Headquartered in Jackson, Comtronics will immediately have offices
in Ann Arbor and Battle Creek, with plans to add offices in Adrian, Lansing and
other Michigan Cities in the future. Walker Capital Corp. intends to acquire
other telecommunications and electronic security companies in
Michigan.
James F. Walker, President of Walker Capital Corp., grew his
wholesale distribution business from $36 million in 1978 to over $360 million in
1993. His company became the 7th largest convenience store supplier in the
country. “We are very proud to have Comtronics on our team. Our philosophy and
management styles are very compatible, and we look forward to continuing their
40 year commitment to excellence,” Walker said.
